Guest Bio:

Dr. Sarita Lyons is a wife, mother, speaker, women’s bible teacher, and psychotherapist. She is on staff at Epiphany Fellowship Church in Philadelphia as the Director of Discipleship, and Women’s Ministry. She speaks, writes, and advocates about the intersections of faith, mental health, and justice; as well as women’s issues in and outside of the church. Dr. Lyons is a contributing writer for the book, Urban Apologetics: How the Gospel Restores Black Dignity. She is married to Pastor Mark Lyons and they are the parents of four children Malachi, Sophia, Olivia, and Gabriella.

Helpful Definitions:

  • Wisdom: 

    • Having the skills to live life successfully on God’s terms.

    • The application of God’s truth to our heart; the will, the emotions, and the mind.

      • Our mind: Our thoughts, our beliefs, how we think. 

      • Our emotions: How we feel.

      • The will: How we choose to live, how we behave.

    • Having a reverence or fear of God that compels us to see things God’s way. Looking at all things through the eyes of God and responding accordingly.

  • Fools: Some earthly wisdom but reject the wisdom and truth of God.

  • Inexperienced: Accumulating the knowledge and believe the truth of God’s word but are inexperience in applying it to ones life.
