Develop a philosophy of ministry that lasts.
AN ONLINE COHORT COURSE TO HELP YOU BUILD A DISCIPLESHIP STRATEGY FOR YOUR CHURCH

How is a holistic philosophy of ministry developed and implemented? This online cohort course is designed to help you learn, utilize, and implement the principles of ministry that stand the test of time.
Join the 6-week Training the Church Cohort and build a deep discipleship strategy alongside your team. No matter where you’re located, you can meaningfully participate in this digital cohort course virtually. Throughout the course, you will receive hours of development, training, and coaching for your ministry from JT English, Jen Wilkin, and Kyle Worley.
Why We Made This Course
To help you understand the problem (and how you can solve it in your church), JT, Jen, and Kyle discuss "The Church and Discipleship: How the Local Church Can Make Whole Disciples of Jesus" in this one-hour session from TGC23.

Training the Church Cohort Course
No matter where you’re located, you can begin this 6-week digital cohort course with your team. Many churches choose to meet together to view the content and work on assignments collaboratively—others watch individually and then gather to discuss and apply what they’ve learned.
Throughout the course, you will receive hours of development and training for your ministry from JT English, Jen Wilkin, and Kyle Worley.
Upon completion of the course, your team will be invited to join the Training the Church Community, where you’ll have access to quarterly live calls with JT, Jen, & Kyle that brings together likeminded churches actively implementing the Deep Discipleship framework in their ministries.

Your questions, answered.
Here’s everything you need to know about joining the Training the Church Cohort — from how the weekly modules work to how your team can participate from anywhere.
-
The course runs for 6 weeks, with one new module released every week after you enroll. You can watch the videos individually or as a staff, then come together to complete the weekly assignment at a time that works for your team.
-
The Training the Church Community is a private online space for cohort alumni. This is where likeminded churches implementing the Deep Discipleship framework connect, ask questions, share wins and challenges, and encourage one another. Upon completion of the course, you’ll be invited to join, where you’ll find ongoing coaching content, resource recommendations, and a space to share ideas with other leaders.
-
Your organization has access to all videos, assignments, and community features for 12 months from your enrollment date. After the first year, you can renew for $500/year to keep access for ongoing training of new hires or other staff. Renewal also gives you access to the Training the Church Community and all its resources.
-
Most weeks include 45–60 minutes of video content plus an assignment that can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours, depending on your pace and depth of discussion. We recommend setting aside at least 90 minutes together as a team each week — whether that’s in one sitting or spread out — so you have space to watch the videos, work through the assignment, and talk about how it applies to your ministry.
-
No problem! While the modules release weekly, you have an entire year of access. That means you can catch up on your own timeline or even revisit content later for deeper reflection.
-
Every package includes:
6 weeks of video teaching
Weekly downloadable assignments
Exclusive discounts on books and resources from Lifeway
12 months of course access for your organization
-
Absolutely. The entire experience is online. You can meaningfully participate from anywhere, in any timezone, whether your team is in one building or spread across multiple locations.
-
Yes! Your seat licenses cover the number of logins you choose at enrollment and more can be added on this page.
-
The assignments are where the transformation happens, so we encourage you to do them — but we also know ministry is busy. If you can’t finish one during the week, you can come back to it anytime.
-
Yes! That’s one of the biggest benefits. With the Annual Refresh, you can keep using the course for onboarding new hires or developing future leaders year after year.
