Helpful Definitions:
Covenant: A promise in which God obligates himself to his people. Through divine initiative, God breaks into human history to reveal himself and to enter relationship in the terms of an oath, with his people.
Unilateral Covenant: One party obligates themselves to another party (or parties) in a way that doesn’t presume any conditions on the other party.
Bilateral Covenant: Some level of mutuality or mutual exchange in the agreement.
Pactum Salutis: Also known as the eternal covenant or covenant of grace. Begins in the eternal fellowship of God (the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit) by which He makes a covenant to save for Himself a people.
